In 2002, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Global Health Programme granted a £20 million award to establish the SCI at Imperial College London. The award will be used primarily to bring treatment against schistosomiasis and intestinal worms (where appropriate) to many individuals in Africa at high risk of serious disease.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Global Health Programme is focused on reducing global health inequities by accelerating the development, deployment and sustainability of health interventions that will save lives and dramatically reduce the disease burden in developing countries.

Geneva Global Inc. is a philanthropic for-profit organisation which proposes a portfolio of projects in need of funding to potential donors. In 2007, Geneva Global Inc. awarded an $8.9 million USD grant to the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Disease Control (GNNTDC) of which SCI is a major partner. This grant allowed SCI to add Rwanda and Burundi to the list of countries where the implementation of integrated Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Control Programmes is promoted.

SCI thanks the following donors and partners for their support:
