Documentary film on schistosomiasis shown on BBC World

In early 2004, BBC World commissioned the TV production company Rockhopper to prepare a series of 8 documentaries each presenting a view on a different tropical disease. The diseases selected were malaria, schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis, tuberculosis, kala-azar, polio, hepatitis B, and diarrhoea. Each programme was a 25 minute in-depth study of a particular aspect of the selected disease, and the programme on schistosomiasis was made with the assistance of SCI staff and Ugandan collaborators. The Ugandan national control programme and their field officer Dr Frances Kazibwe came over very well in the programme. The series was shown on BBC World which probably reached several million homes worldwide. Copies of these programmes may be purchased directly from Rockhopper.
